Announcement for our school families update about our plans regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19):

Dear Families and School Community,

There have not been any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in students or staff in our school community. However, in an abundance of caution, and with the rapidly evolving situation around COVID-19, City Arts and Tech’s campus is closed effective Monday, March 16, 2020, and is tentatively scheduled to reopen and resume all scheduled classes and activities on Monday, April 6, 2020 after our scheduled Spring Break. We recognize that this decision has an impact on your family and we did not make the decision lightly or hastily.

For the next two weeks, we are also planning to offer opportunities for your student to continue their studies through at-home, online activities with their teachers beginning on Tuesday afternoon, March 17 on their CAT-issued Chromebooks. We will send you more details about this on Monday, March 16.

While school is closed, the students and staff of City Arts and Tech, and all members of the public, should continue taking basic measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses:

● Wash hands with liquid soap and water and rub for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water

are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

● Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

● Avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth, with unwashed hands.

● Isolate individuals who are ill, especially if they have a fever.

● Clean and disinfect surfaces routinely.

● Get a flu shot to protect yourself and others from the flu, which has similar symptoms to COVID-19.

If you or someone in your care begins to exhibit the symptoms of COVID-19, especially individuals with chronic health issues, please follow CDC guidance and call a healthcare professional. Your healthcare professional will work with your public health department and the CDC to determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19. If your student has a lab confirmed case of COVID-19 please communicate with the Principal immediately.
