Jessica is City Arts & Tech’s 2018  winner of the Bob Lenz “PDO” Scholarship.

This year’s recipient of the Bob Lenz PDO award has shown the hallmarks of persistence and determination throughout her time at CAT. Jessica has kept her eyes on the prize, as she triumphed through experiences that would have forced many to throw in the towel. As she begins her new journey into college, we are proud to give her this award acknowledging all the hard work she has done to make higher education a reality for herself. She has persisted academically in the face of great odds and looks forward to what the future will bring as she heads to San Francisco State University in the fall.

ABOUT THE BOB LENZ “PDO” SCHOLARSHIP
The Bob Lenz PDO Scholarship award of $1000 is given each year to one graduating senior from each school site who exemplifies the Calvin Coolidge phrase: “Persistence and Determination alone are Omnipotent (PDO).”  Erin Brockovich made these words her motto in her successful campaign to expose toxic water tables in the Central Valley.  Bob and his Envision co-founders adopted the motto as well, applying it to Envision’s tireless work to help students develop the persistence and determination to succeed in college. Each of our award-winning students:

 

  • Has gone through significant hardship and persisted through adversity;
  • Has been accepted to and plans to attend a 4-year university or college.
