 OF INTENT TO FILE AN APPLICATION

WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

SEEKING 21ST CENTURY HIGH SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL SAFETY AND ENRICHMENT FOR TEENS (ASSETS) PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Public Notice is hereby given that Envision Education, in partnership with the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Education, intends to file an application with the California Department of Education seeking 21st Century After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) Program for High School Students.

The general purpose of the 21st Century High School ASSETs Program is to establish or expand community learning centers that provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students’ regular academic program. The 21st Century High School ASSETs Program must also offer families of the pupils’ literacy and related educational development services. Also the Centers, concurrently, help working parents by providing a safe environment for students during non-school hours or periods when school is not in session.

Additional information about the 21st Century High School ASSETs Program for High School Students is also available on the California Department of Education web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/fo/r27/cclcassets13rfa.asp. The public is invited to provide input and to collaborate with UC Berkeley and Envision Education in the development of its application to be submitted to the California Department of Education. The application due date is November 30, 2012.
