Dear CAT-Sters,

Gold Ribbon ImageWe are thrilled to share some great news about City Arts & Technology High School with our students, families, and friends: The California Department of Education announced this week that CAT is a recipient of the 2015 Gold Ribbon Schools Award!

Following a lengthy application and review process, including a visit from the Department of Education, we are being recognized for outstanding service to California students and families.  The letter notifying us of the recognition says that this award is “a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work, and vision of your school’s educational community.”

More Gold Ribbon Award Highlights:

  • CAT is one of only two high schools in San Francisco to receive the 2015 Gold Ribbon Award; the other is Lowell High School.
  • Superintendent Tom Torlakson, on the 2015 winners: “These schools are academically successful, vibrant, and innovative centers of learning and teaching.  They provide great examples of the things educators are doing right-embracing rigorous academic standards, providing excellence and creativity in teaching, and creating a positive school climate.”
  • Our Gold Ribbon Award will be celebrated at the California School Recognition Program Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 29, 2015, at the San Francisco Marriott.

We are gratified that our hard work is being recognized by the State of California. It is a privilege to work with CAT students each day, and we are extremely proud of their hard work and their persistence in getting to and thriving in college.  The Gold Ribbon Award inspire us to continue to do everything we can to prepare our students for success, in college, career, and life.

Thank you for being a part of the CAT community!

Cheers,

Daniel Allen
CAT Principal
